Controlling devices with thoughts is no longer science fiction, but part of the present, as this field is covered by the development of devices based on BCI (Brain Computer Interface) technology. The BCI field is dedicated both to the analysis of the functioning of the human brain and to the use of this type of technology for the empowerment of the speech and mobility impaired. Current BCI solutions are time-consuming, as each gesture has to be validated and precisely defined by the individual. To date, no one in Slovenia has used a BCI device for the purpose of abstract imaging. The BCI painter is based on a virtual keyboard, with which the user selects options – brush strokes reminiscent of the brush strokes of the Zasavian academic painter Janez Knez – with his thoughts via the BCI interface.
